Dates

  • December 1 Hackathon Orientation day.

  • December 2nd - 4th: In-person AR/VR Africa Hackathon

  • 4th & 12th December:  Announce Winners and Overall Winners respectively.

  • January - April 2023: AR/VR Africa Bootcamp 2023. 

  • April 5th: Demo Day!

Eligibility

Each team member must register for the AR/VR Africa Metathon 2022 Edition official website https://arvrafrica.com/#metathonregistration .

Project and Submission Requirements

  1. Each team can address a solution under this five verticals (Education, Healthcare, Tourism, Social Impact, and Business Application)
  2. Each team can only submit one project 
  3. Each team must have a presentation slide or video to display on the last date of the hackathon.
  4. No project will be accepted after the end of the submission date. 

Prizes

  • First Prize: $1500

  • Second Prize: $800

  • Third Prize: $700

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

  • Execution: Does the team have a working version of the prototype?

  • Quality of demo presentation: Was the presentation clear? Did it include all the pieces of information to understand how the project will work? 

  • Feasibility: Is the articulation of the concept clear as well as the activities, resources and partnerships needed to implement? 

  • Need/Market-fit: Does it have the potential to solve a need or issue aligned with the hackathon themes in the current society and world? Does it respond to the need(s) and characteristics of the market/ context proposed? 

  • Creativity/ Innovation: Does it approach an existing problem in a new and innovative way? Is the product or service new in the specific market? 

  • Technology: Does it make effective use of AR, VR, and MR Technology?
